Bringing Artists Out of the Shadows: The YCG Brand Story
In a world where creativity knows no bounds, many talented artists struggle to share their work with the world. They are consumed by their craft, but lack the confidence and skills to promote themselves. That’s where YCG comes in – a social platform dedicated to helping artists showcase their talents and reach a wider audience.
The Shadow Metaphor
Imagine being a talented artist, full of ideas and creativity, yet hesitant to share your work with the world. This is where the shadow metaphor comes in – a reminder that even the most talented artists need recognition and validation from their peers. YCG’s mission is to encourage artists to step out of the shadows and let their work be seen.
A Call to Action
Our video, inspired by the NOIR comic book style, uses black and white hand-drawn illustrations to convey the message of self-promotion. The story is narrated in a poetic tone, with a deep and subtle voice that guides the viewer through the dramatic arrangement. The video ends with a motivational call to action: “Join the growing network of creative people.”
Artistic Style
To reflect the artistic nature of YCG, our design direction was inspired by the hand-drawn style of traditional comic books. We combined this style with the YCG brand colors of black and white to create a unique visual identity. The video also features a mix of 3D, 2D, and traditional frame animation techniques to create a captivating and engaging experience.
The Plant and Seed Story
To communicate the idea that artists can financially benefit from uploading their work on YCG, we used a metaphor that connects nicely with the plant and seed story. We chose to use the Guiana Chestnut, also known as the Money Tree, as a symbol of wealth and prosperity. This subtle association helps artists understand the potential rewards of sharing their work on YCG.
A Slightly Poetic Twist
Our video features a slightly poetic narration, with a magnetic voice that immerses the viewer in the story. The dramatic arrangement and uplifting tone are designed to inspire and motivate artists to continue creating and sharing their work. The video ends with a call to action, encouraging viewers to join the growing network of creative people on YCG.
Design Exploration
To create the video, our team conducted a series of design explorations, testing different styles and techniques. We combined 3D, 2D, and traditional frame animation to create a unique visual identity that reflects the artistic nature of YCG. Our design direction was inspired by the hand-drawn style of traditional comic books, with a focus on black and white illustrations and strong contrast.
