Millet Router Bricked: A Step-by-Step Guide to Recovery

If your Millet router has become unresponsive and refuses to start, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. In this article, we’ll walk you through the process of recovering your router using a U disk brush.

Understanding the Problem

When your Millet router fails to start, it may enter one of two states:

  1. Solid Red Indicator: If your router’s indicator lights are solid red, it means that the device has encountered serious problems that have triggered the AB + Safe Recovery system. In this case, you can try to resolve the issue using a U disk brush.
  2. Red Flashing Indicator: If your router’s indicator lights are flashing red, it means that the device has failed to start due to an issue with the AB systems. In this case, you can try to recover the device using a U disk brush.

Pre-Requisites

Before you begin the recovery process, make sure you have the following:

  • A FAT system-formatted U disk or U disk with a FAT32 system
  • The official Millet router website (miwifi.com)
  • A computer with an internet connection

Step-by-Step Recovery Process

To recover your Millet router using a U disk brush, follow these steps:

  1. Prepare the U Disk: Format the U disk to FAT32 or use a FAT system-formatted U disk.
  2. Download the ROM Package: Visit the official Millet router website (miwifi.com) and download the ROM package for your specific router model.
  3. Extract the ROM Package: Extract the ROM package to the root directory of the U disk and name it “miwifi.bin”.
  4. Insert the U Disk: Insert the U disk into the USB interface of the router.
  5. Hold Down the RESET Button: Hold down the RESET button with an elongated tool while the U disk is inserted.
  6. Wait for the Yellow Indicator Light: Wait for the yellow indicator light to turn steady state (approximately 3-5 minutes).
  7. Release the RESET Button: Release the RESET button when the yellow indicator light turns steady state.
  8. Wait for the Router to Restart: Wait for the router to restart and the blue LEDs to turn on.

Troubleshooting

If the brush process fails, the yellow indicator light will turn yellow light flashing state. In this case, try the following:

  • Check the U disk for any issues.
  • Re-brush the device using the same U disk.
  • Try a different U disk or a different computer.

Special Note for New Router Models (R2D)

If you have a new router model (R2D), you will need to use a common packet data on the ROM disk. This means that you will not need to clear the data on the hard disk.

Special Note for Router Model (R1D)

If you have a router model (R1D), you will need to use a special U-Brush Pack (available for download at http://bigota.miwifi.com/xiaoqiang/rom/brcm4709_anf_1debb_2.6.10.bin). This pack will not clear the data on the hard disk, but may be due to hard drive problems.
