Uncovering Hidden Sleep in MySQL Process List
As a database administrator, have you ever wondered why there are so many sleep processes in the MySQL process list? In this article, we will delve into the reasons behind this phenomenon and provide practical solutions to optimize your database performance.
The Problem
When you run the SHOW PROCESSLIST command in MySQL, you may notice a large number of processes with a “Sleep” state. These processes are not actively executing queries, but are instead waiting for connections or resources. This can lead to performance issues and increased latency.
The Solution
To standardize business use and optimize database performance, we recommend adjusting the internal connecting parameters in MySQL. By doing so, you can actively unlock Sleep and lower idle waiting parameters. We have also optimized the connection configuration in the new version of our database platform.
Temporary Solutions
In cases where temporary stops or problems occur, you can ask DBA operations to assist in resolving the issue as soon as possible.
